Body - part 1, food.

Soul lives in silence, space and time.
It flies if you let it go, it hurts if you don’t take care of it.
It’s mystery and poetry, non-sense and abstraction.
It exists but you can’t touch it. Neither see it.
But you can make it a better ship, a sweetest home. Body.

Body lives with food. And drinks.

Japan is a world of food and drink. Truly.

Food is important and everywhere.
Beautiful colored dishes, lovely designed and funny candies, delicately perfumed sweets, anko, mocha, ice cream, tasty meat, exotic  fish, yummy soba, strange colored sodas, sweet beers and umeshu, all is good  to surprise and delight senses. And feel your body curious,  healthy and satisfied.

Cooked. Fried. Baked. Roasted. Marinated. Macerated. Simmered. Coated. Salted.
Words roll and spring in your mouth merrily and so the food when eating it !

Japanese food make you hungry, thirsty, starving, GREEDY !

Simple things often the best of all.
Yaki udon and fried octopus  in the small restaurant of Hirauchi on Yakushima Island, yakitori and beer in a backyard in Kyoto, tender beef of Kobe, tonkatsu with black buta (pork) in Kagoshima,  takoyaki at Harajuku, decorated bentos for lunch,  not to mention the sweet delicacies from anywhere !

Greedy country for greedy people ! Kampaï !!

Soul

One year ago, I knew I was about to go to Japan in august for summer holidays. Happiness, joy !!!

A few days later, I heard about a tsunami devastating the Japanese coast and causing a huge nuclear disaster.

We didn’t change our plans, no matter what. Japan was waiting for us. We thought of nuclear danger, which would be far away from us – we had planned to go south already – and nothing pessimistic people could say would change our mind.

No regret at all. This trip was one of the most important in my life.

How come a place, so different and far from my own country, can speak to me as Japan did?
I don’t know at all. It’s a mystery, a miracle, a chance and an evidence. I could feel home in this wonderful country. Not only because of my fiancé next to me, or friends travelling with us.  The feelings were intense, soft and deep. Really deep.

So strong that I think I can remember every details and every moments  - I just have to dive in my mind and bring back some pieces, bright and colored pieces, light and happy pieces, warm and delightful memories.

And I wonder when I’ll go back to this incredible place my heart deeply cherishes now…
